I love this program. For those of you still using wordpad for coding, this will be like a glass of ice cold water after a three mile hike in the Sahahra Desert. It's very multi-functional and is probably one of the most useful tools out there. Spend time exploring its uses and functions and you will be surprised at much it can do.

Purpose: Media file editing, downloading, burning, ripping, converting softwares.
This isn't just one program, it's many different programs all with specific purposes. It may take a little browing through to determine what you need, but if you need it, it's probably there. All of their stuff updates quite constantly, save for a few programs that they can't due to various laws and such. The nice part is you don't have to be tech-savvy at all to use their stuff - each program has its own step-by-step guide.
OpenOffice/NeoOffice

Purpose: An alternative word processor. It's free and it comes with a lot of useful features, and is an all-in-all good program. There are a few downsides (I personally prefer Corel Wordperfect) but since that's extremely expensive, this is definitely a viable option for people who don't want to spend any money but need a reliable program.
